Promotion of Silk Yarn Detangling Industry Scheme
Empowering Minority Silk Workers Through Financial Support
The Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation (KMDC) has launched the Promotion of Silk Yarn Detangling Industry Scheme to uplift and empower minority artisans and workers involved in the silk yarn detangling trade. This initiative aims to improve their financial stability and business sustainability by providing much-needed working capital and infrastructure support.
About the Scheme
The scheme offers financial assistance up to ₹2.00 lakhs to minority beneficiaries working in the silk yarn detangling industry.

50% of the assistance will be given as a subsidy,

and the remaining 50% as a loan.
This support enables artisans to invest in essential equipment, raw materials, and working capital, helping them enhance productivity and income.
Eligibility Criteria
To benefit from this scheme, applicants must meet the following conditions:

Must belong to a religious minority community (Muslim, Christian, Jain, Buddhist, Sikh, or Parsi).

Must be a permanent resident of Karnataka.

Age limit: Between 18 and 55 years.

Annual family income: Should not exceed ₹6.00 lakhs.

No member of the applicant’s family should be a State or Central Government employee.

The applicant or family members must not have availed any loan/subsidy from KMDC in the past 5 years (except Arivu and Foreign Education Loan schemes).

The applicant must not already be a beneficiary of any other KMDC scheme.
